Cooking steps
Buffalo Tofu Sandwich Recipe
Step 1: Prepare the Flour Dredge
- Mix 1/2 cup plain flour, 1/2 cup corn flour, and 1 tsp salt in a bowl.
- Have cold water ready for dipping the tofu between coatings.
Step 2: Coat and Fry the Tofu
- Dip the slice of tofu in cold water.
- Dredge the tofu in the flour mixture to coat evenly.
- Shallow fry the coated tofu until it is nice and crispy.
Step 3: Make the Buffalo Sauce
- In a pan, melt 2 tbsp vegan butter.
- Add 1/2 cup buffalo sauce and 1 tbsp agave syrup (or your preferred sweetener).
- Stir to combine and heat through.
Step 4: Toast the Bread
- Slice sourdough bread and toast the slices until golden and crisp.
Step 5: Assemble the Sandwich
- Spread vegan mayo on one slice of toasted sourdough.
- Add shredded iceberg lettuce.
- Place the crispy buffalo tofu on top.
- Add lots of sliced pickles.
- Spread vegan mayo on another slice of toasted bread and place it on top.
Step 6: Serve
- Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately.
