Fondant Icing Recipe
Step 1: Dissolve Gelatin
- Dissolve one good tablespoon of unflavored gelatin in 4 cups of water. Leave it for about 5 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare Boiling Water
- In a separate pan, put boiling water and turn the flame on low.
Step 3: Combine Ingredients
- In a bowl, add one tablespoon of glycerin and glucose syrup. Mix well.
Step 4: Add Water
- Add the remaining water to the bowl and dissolve the mixture.
Step 5: Melt Shortening
- Add shortening to the mixture and let it dissolve. Also, add a little bit of vanilla (about half a teaspoon).
Step 6: Mix with Icing Sugar
- Make a well in the middle of the icing sugar and pour the melted mixture into it. Mix thoroughly.
Step 7: Knead the Mixture
- Turn out the mixture onto a surface and knead it with icing sugar until you achieve a soft, pliable dough.
Step 8: Wrap the Fondant
- Wrap the fondant in cling film and let it set for about 8 hours in a cooler environment before using it.
