Fondant Icing Recipe

Step 1: Dissolve Gelatin [01:51]

  • Dissolve one good tablespoon of unflavored gelatin in 4 cups of water. Leave it for about 5 minutes.

  • In a separate pan, put boiling water and turn the flame on low.

  • In a bowl, add one tablespoon of glycerin and glucose syrup. Mix well.

  • Add the remaining water to the bowl and dissolve the mixture.

  • Add shortening to the mixture and let it dissolve. Also, add a little bit of vanilla (about half a teaspoon).

  • Make a well in the middle of the icing sugar and pour the melted mixture into it. Mix thoroughly.
