Black Bean Brownies Recipe

Step 1: Prepare the Flax Egg

  • Mix 1 tablespoon flax meal with 3 tablespoons water.
  • Let it thicken for a couple of minutes.

Step 2: Blend the Batter

  • Add to a food processor:
    • 1 can of rinsed black beans
    • 1/2 cup almond butter
    • 1/4 cup almond flour
    • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
    • prepared flax egg
    • 1/2 cup maple syrup
    • vanilla extract (to taste)
    • baking powder (to taste)
    • baking soda (to taste)
  • Pulse until completely smooth with no chunks.

Step 3: Add Chocolate Chips

  • Add 3/4 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate.
  • Pulse a few times to mix evenly.

Step 4: Prepare the Baking Pan

  • Spray an 8x8 inch non-stick square pan with avocado oil.
  • Pour the batter into the pan.
  • Tap the pan on the counter a few times to even out the batter.
