DIY Electrolyte Mix
Step 1: Prepare the Salt
- Blend the flaked Oregon sea salt into a fine powder to make it easily dissolvable (optional).
Step 2: Measure Ingredients
- Using a food scale, measure:
- 75 g of Oregon sea salt (sodium chloride).
- 11.5 g of pure potassium chloride.
- 11.7 g of magnesium malate.
- Combine these in a container and mix thoroughly.
Step 3: Store the Mix
- Store the mixed electrolytes in a glass container suitable for about 30 servings.
- Shake well before each use as the mixture may separate over time.
Step 4: Serving Size
- One serving is approximately a heaping half teaspoon (~3 g) of the electrolyte mix.
Flavor Variations
Grapefruit Salt Flavor
- Add one heaping half teaspoon of the unflavored electrolyte mix to a glass with ice cubes.
- Add sparkling water.
- Squeeze fresh grapefruit juice into the glass and optionally add chunks of grapefruit.
- Stir and garnish with a slice of grapefruit.
Citrus Salt Flavor
- For a larger serving, add two heaping half teaspoons of the electrolyte mix to a mason jar.
- Add sparkling water.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice and add a spoonful of dehydrated lime powder.
- Stir well.
Raspberry Berry Salt Flavor
- Mash fresh raspberries into a puree.
- Add half a heaping teaspoon of the electrolyte mix to a glass.
- Add the raspberry puree.
- Add sparkling water and optionally fresh lime juice.
- Stir and serve.
