Is Paprika Free? Paprika App Cost, Paprika 4 and How It Compares
Updated · by MealClip
Short answer
Paprika 3 is a one-time purchase, sold separately on each platform: $4.99 on iPhone and iPad, $29.99 on Mac and $29.99 on Windows (US prices). On Android and Windows you can use it for free up to 50 recipes, without cloud sync, and unlock the full version later.
That is changing with Paprika 4, in open beta since September 28, 2026: its new features, including saving recipes from TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, will need a subscription once the beta ends.
What Paprika 3 costs on each platform
From the US App Store, Google Play and Paprika's own website, checked on October 29, 2026. Each version is sold separately, so using Paprika on your phone and your computer means two purchases.
iPhone and iPad: $4.99 (US App Store).
Mac: $29.99 (Mac App Store).
Windows: $29.99 on Paprika's website, which notes the price varies by country and tax.
Android: free to download; the full version is an in-app purchase (Google Play lists in-app items from $4.99 to $14.99).
Cloud Sync, which keeps recipes, grocery lists and meal plans in step across your devices, has no extra cost: it works with a Paprika account once you own the full version.
Is there a free version of Paprika?
On Android, yes: its Google Play listing says every feature is available in the free version except that you can only save up to 50 recipes and Cloud Sync is not available.
On Windows, there is a free trial with no time limit and the same 50-recipe cap, without cloud syncing.
On iPhone, iPad and Mac, Paprika 3 is paid up front: there is no free version listed on the App Store.
Paprika 4: from one-time purchase to subscription
Paprika's blog announced the Paprika 4 open beta on September 28, 2026, open to all current users. New features include saving recipes from TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, scanning recipe photos, importing from the clipboard, nutrition analysis, family sharing and Alexa support.
The blog says all new features are free to test during the beta, and afterwards premium features will require a subscription. The US App Store already lists a "Paprika 4 Premium" in-app purchase at $14.99 (and $9.99 as a discount), without saying which period it covers.
Paprika 3 itself does not import from social media: it saves recipes from websites through its built-in browser and bookmarklet.
Paprika vs ReciMe
Price model: Paprika 3 is paid once per platform ($4.99 on iPhone). ReciMe is free with 5 recipe imports a week, and ReciMe Plus is a subscription ($39.99 a year in the US according to its help center).
Social media: ReciMe imports from Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube today. Paprika only does it in the Paprika 4 beta, and that will become a subscription feature.
Where it runs: both have iPhone and Android apps; Paprika also has Mac and Windows apps, ReciMe a web app and a Chrome extension.
Paprika vs Recipe Keeper
Both are long-standing recipe managers sold once per platform. Recipe Keeper is free to download with a $19.99 Pro upgrade on the US App Store; Paprika is $4.99 on iPhone and $29.99 on Mac or Windows.
Free use: Paprika's free version on Android and Windows keeps 50 recipes; Recipe Keeper does not publish its free limit.
Social media: Recipe Keeper lets you search Instagram and TikTok and add recipes to your collection; Paprika does it only in the Paprika 4 beta.
