Churros Recipe
Step 1: Prepare Cinnamon Sugar
- In a bowl, mix 1/4 cup of caster sugar with 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Set aside.
Step 2: Set Up Piping Bag
- Prepare a piping bag with a large star nozzle. Place the piping bag in a jar to make filling easier.
Step 3: Make Churro Dough
- In a deep utensil, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of butter, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence (optional). Melt on high heat until boiling.
- Once boiling, turn off the heat and quickly add 1 cup of flour. Mix vigorously for 2-3 minutes until smooth.
Step 4: Cool the Dough
- Let the dough cool for 2-3 minutes until warm to touch.
Step 5: Heat Oil
- Heat oil in a cooking pan until it reaches 165 degrees Celsius.
Step 6: Pipe Churros
- Transfer the dough to the piping bag. Apply pressure to shape the churros, cutting them to your desired length (5-6 inches).
Step 7: Fry Churros
- Carefully drop churros into the hot oil, frying 6-7 at a time. Fry on high flame for 2-3 minutes, then lower to medium-low until light golden brown.
Step 8: Drain and Coat
- Remove churros from oil and drain on a sieve. Coat them in the prepared cinnamon sugar.
Step 9: Fill Churros (Optional)
- To make filled churros, create a hole in the middle and fill with chocolate spread using a piping bag.
Step 10: Serve
- Serve churros hot with chocolate spread, whipped cream, or any dip of your choice.
