Meat

1 pack of Armour hot dogs

Vegetables

1 onion
1 bag of mixed vegetables
Green onions (optional garnish)

Pantry

2 packs of ramen noodles (including flavor packets)

Cooking steps

1. Prepare the Base

  • Bring 3 cups of water to a boil.
  • Empty half of one ramen flavor packet into the boiling water.
  • Add the hot dogs to the water to boil, concentrating their flavor and fats.

2. Sauté the Vegetables

  • Heat a pan over medium heat and add the frozen mixed vegetables.
  • Once the pan dries, add 1 tablespoon of the boiling hot dog water to deglaze.
  • Once the moisture evaporates, remove the vegetables from the pan.

3. Sear the Hot Dogs

  • Remove the boiled hot dogs from the water and add them to the hot pan.
  • Add another tablespoon of the hot dog water to deglaze.
  • Once the pan dries, remove the hot dogs and set aside with the vegetables.

4. Caramelize the Onions

  • Add the sliced onion to the same pan.
  • Once the onion softens, add half of the second ramen flavor packet.
  • When the onions are well-colored, add 1 tablespoon of hot dog water to deglaze.
  • Finally, add 1/4 cup of water to the onions and turn the heat to low.
  • Reduce the liquid until it becomes thick and jammy, then remove the onions from the pan.

5. Final Assembly

  • Add the ramen noodles to the pan with the remaining onion-flavored liquid.
  • Add the last half of the ramen flavor packet to the noodles and mix.
  • Return the cooked vegetables, hot dogs, and onions to the pan.
  • Toss everything over medium heat until well-combined and hot.
