Cooking steps

Shrimp Egg Foo Young

Step 1: Prepare the Vegetables [00:25]

Finely chop the green onions, separating the stem and the leaf parts. Slice half an onion into thin strips and separate the layers.

Step 2: Prepare the Egg Mixture [01:01]

Crack and whisk the eggs. In a small bowl, mix 1 tbsp of cornstarch with 2 tsp of cold water. Add this mixture to the eggs and mix well.

Step 3: Prepare the Gravy Mixture [01:26]

In another small bowl, mix 2 tsp of cornstarch with 2 tbsp of cold water until smooth.

Step 4: Pan-fry the Shrimp and Vegetables [01:47]

Heat a pan over medium-high heat with a little oil. Pan-fry the shrimp until golden brown on both sides. Add the stem part of the green onion to the pan. Then, add the onion strips and bean sprouts, stirring until softened.

Step 5: Mix and Cook the Egg Foo Young [02:32]

Remove the stir-fried ingredients from the pan and add them to the egg mixture. Add the leafy part of the green onion, 1/4 tsp of salt, and 1/8 tsp of white pepper powder, and stir to combine. Heat a little more oil in the pan. Using a ladle, scoop out the egg mixture to create individual pieces. Fry until golden brown on both sides.

Step 6: Make the Gravy [03:31]

In the same pan, add 1 cup of unsalted chicken broth, 1 tbsp of soy sauce, 1/4 tsp of sugar, and mix. Once boiling, slowly pour in the remaining cornstarch and water mixture, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens. Add 1 tsp of sesame oil and mix.

Step 7: Serve [04:26]

Pour the prepared gravy over the egg foo young and serve.
